Poem reads: The Lake As My Witness I used to think maybe the Lake could heal my heartache, wash it away in her waves. But I have grown older and weary, carried brokenness to the shore that refuses to dissolve. Still, I come, no longer looking to be healed but rather, to be held, to leave my tears in her water, to grind my rough skin in the sand on the shore, to know that this is alive. This sand on my feet and wet in my hair, this ache in my chest. This is alive, this is being, with the Lake as my witness, my body held in hers.
